“Love Beyond the Grave – The Midnight Promise”

🖤 “Love Beyond the Grave – The Midnight Promise”

Ayaan moved into the old house on the edge of town without knowing its past.

It was cheap, quiet, and far from the noise of the city—perfect for someone who wanted to be alone. The neighbors rarely spoke about it. When they did, they only said one thing:

“Don’t stay awake after midnight.”

Ayaan laughed it off.

The first few nights were normal… until the whispers began.

At exactly 12:00 AM, every night, a soft tapping echoed on his window.
Tap… tap… tap…

At first, he ignored it, thinking it was just the wind. But the sound became more deliberate… like someone asking to be let in.

One night, unable to resist, Ayaan slowly walked toward the window.

The air felt cold. Unnaturally cold.

He opened it.

And there she was.

A girl stood outside, her white dress gently swaying, though there was no wind. Her long dark hair partially covered her face, and her skin looked pale… almost glowing in the moonlight.

“Who are you?” Ayaan asked, his voice barely steady.

The girl lifted her head slowly.

“My name is Sara.”

Her voice was soft… distant… like it was coming from somewhere far away.

Instead of fear, Ayaan felt something strange—calmness. As if he had known her before.

That night, they talked.

And the next night… she came again.

Days turned into weeks.

Sara only appeared after midnight. She never entered the house—only stood by the window. But her presence felt warm in a way that made Ayaan forget how cold she really was.

They talked about everything—dreams, life, loneliness.

“I used to love the rain,” Sara once said, staring at the sky.
“Used to?” Ayaan asked.

She paused. “I don’t feel it anymore.”

Ayaan didn’t understand… but he didn’t question it.

Slowly, he fell in love with her.

One evening, while exploring the house, Ayaan found an old locked room in the basement.

The door creaked open with effort.

Inside, there were broken furniture pieces… dusty photographs… and a mirror covered with a white cloth.

Curious, he pulled the cloth away.

The mirror was cracked—and for a moment, he thought he saw someone standing behind him.

He turned quickly.

No one.

But on the floor, he noticed an old newspaper.

His heart stopped as he read the headline:

“Young Woman Found Dead in Mysterious Circumstances – 20 Years Ago.”

Below it was a photo.

Sara.

That night, Ayaan waited, his mind filled with fear and confusion.

At midnight, the tapping came again.

Tap… tap… tap…

He opened the window.

Sara stood there, smiling gently.

“I found out the truth,” Ayaan said quietly.

Her smile faded.

“You’re… not alive.”

Silence filled the air.

Then she spoke.

“I was waiting for you to find out.”

Ayaan’s chest tightened. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because you would’ve been afraid.”

“I’m not,” he said, stepping closer.

The cold air wrapped around him like ice, but he didn’t move back.

“I love you, Sara.”

Her expression changed… something deeper… darker.

“Do you really mean that?” she whispered.

“Yes.”

Her eyes slowly turned black.

The temperature dropped even more. The walls began to crack slightly, and the wind started howling through the room.

“If you love me…” she said, her voice now echoing unnaturally,
“then don’t leave me alone again.”

Ayaan felt something pulling him forward.

“I’ve been alone for 20 years,” she continued, tears of darkness running down her cheeks.
“I waited… every night… for someone to see me… to hear me…”

Ayaan reached out his hand.

“I’m here now.”

Sara smiled.

And suddenly—

Everything went silent.

The next morning, the neighbors gathered outside the house.

Ayaan was found lying near the window.

No wounds. No struggle.

Just a peaceful… lifeless body.

Days passed.

The house was abandoned again.

But people who walked past it at night began to notice something strange.

At exactly 12:00 AM, two figures could be seen standing by the window.

A boy… and a girl.

Sometimes they smiled.

Sometimes they just stared into the darkness.

And sometimes…

If someone looked too closely…

They would hear a soft whisper:

“Stay with us… forever.”
